Hello! I was curious... Do the coins in TNP have designs, or are they completely smooth? :0
they do! the gold Adranian coins (which is what Clementine has) have the symbol of the king/king's house which is the swooping hawk that we'll see Duncan wearing later. that's basically the royal sigil of Adrania, and we'll see wardens, soldiers, and other high-ranking politicians or wealthy Adranian families wearing it throughout the game.
silver coins have a merchant ship on them, and bronze coins have the moon on one side, and the sun on the other side (to represent the Wolfmother's children, but to avoid directly printing the image of a god on money). Gael is different in that their gold coin actually has a whale on it, since whaling and fishing is their main source of income (versus Adrania, which in the south has decent farming and functions as a massive trade hub between/with Gael and Yulan). their silver coins have a wolf on one side, sun and moon on the other (same reason as Adranian's have it on their bronze) and then Gaelish bronze coins just have a silhouette of the southern mountain range and sea stacks.
Gael also has whale bone coins and Yulan has shell coins, but those don't get traded with Adrania. only the metal coins, and that's just because gold is gold; it doesn't change much of the value, it's only aesthetics, and the flow of coins between Gael, Adrania, and Yulan (Adrania's main international trade partner) is vital for all three countries.
#so long as its gold silver and bronze they'll accept it#regardless of what country it's from#though i do imagine Adrania specifically trying to raise the value of their coins#requiring higher taxes on imports from Gael#less so with Yulan though since they have a healthy economic relationship and Yulan poses no real threat to Adrania#interesting stuff to think about!#i did actually try to design the gold coin once a very long time ago#around the time i wrote Lea's route in the original ch1#because i also tried to design the bread stamps that are mentioned there that signify the bread's source & legitimacy#(it did not work out because i cannot draw that kind of thing lmao)#also. i do very light worldbuilding when it comes to the economy and how that all functions so<3 i like the world to feel real#but i also can admit i do Nawt have extensive knowledge on economics. or coin minting. or anything really#it's just not the focus of the game beyond what i need to know to make the politics and hierarchy believable#ask#anonymous#lore

Ayoooooo, Primeval Anon here, to respond to your response (don't worry too much about how long you took to answer, it was worth the wait)!
Omfg, you had me hooked in when you mentioned Bloodborne-influenced lore. I love the hell out of Bloodborne, and just in general From Software's Dark Fantasy settings. And I love that premise. It definitely fits in with the Quintessons clearly aquatically-influenced nature.
I also enjoy the idea of the Primes balancing each other out with their different natures. As well as the idea that the Quintessons kinda... cannibalized him... fucking gnarly lol.
Just imagine, post-occupation, there's these series skirmishes, perhaps even smaller-scale wars, between the og Prime worshipping groups and the the emerging sects of Quintesson-influenced cultists. Something like
Priest from Kaon: For it is said that in his wisdom, Megatronus- Priest from [SETTLEMENT NAME REDACTED]: You mean Mortilus? Priest from Kaon: :| *The settlement of [NAME REDACTED] was procedurally, systematically decimated in their war with the Kaonites*
Now, I don't know about other continuities they've featured in, like Aligned, but in G1 they definitely had some sort of caste system. Only ranking I can immediately think of are the "Judges", which would be the ones people generally think of when it comes to the Quintessons, there were a few other variants if I'm remembering it right. There was a video that I saw that talked about this, I'll have to go and re-watch it.
Anyways yeah, maybe the castes are made up of different sub-species within the Quintessons genus? And then under them come the Sharkticons and Allicons (Those weird croc-like dudes who nab Kup and Hotrod after they end up on Quintessa). Maybe they were at one point Cybertronian Wilders who were abducted by the Quintessons during the occupation and, through a mix of selective breeding and genetic modification, were able to turn them in their own obedient, self-replenishing army, that whenever the Quintessons aren't enacting some campaign of destruction or conquest, just kinda vibe in the oceans of Quintessa alongside the local fauna of the planet.
Y'know... now that I think about it, since the Quintessons would clearly inherit Quintus' unhinged daydreamer work ethic, do you think they'd also fuck with the wildlife of their homeworld, perhaps even the planet itself??? Gods, I hate how the Quintessons are so underdeveloped because they exist in the same universe as the Transformers.
Yeah, I'm really disappointed how the Quintessons as a whole are really underutilized as characters and background lore.
I mean, the shit is right there!
Me, if given the chance to sit down with a new Transformers team to talk about leveraging the connection between Cybertron, Earth, and Quintessa with supernatural elements:

Personally, I'm more of the "Quintessons fucked with their own planet" camp. Don't get me wrong, the Quintessons had established a massive empire to command resources, including bodies, but the Allicons and Sharkticons seem to be directly from Quintessa. Both fit the aquatic theme going on. Plus, sharks are natural predators of cephalopods and attack injured or sick whales (another predator of squids). While alligators don't usually eat cephalopods, they are an apex predator that does go on land and will eat just about anything. Soooo, easy clean up as well as population control on campaign?
I totally believe it's within character for the highest castes of Quintessons to be cyborgs/techno-organic instead of full mechanoid because of certain kinds of resistances and the way they control their fully mechanical populations. And they would totally be in genetic modification, selective breeding, and terraforming as a whole because 1) absolute control, 2) meshes Quintus' own special interests with the Quintessons' military and economic might, and 3) sustainability, what's that!?
The last point is the kicker because it's what really cements their own origins via Quintus Prime. That particular Prime truly believed that life should flourish at all costs. The problem? Environments can only support so much before nature sets up its own checks and balances, or the entire thing ends up collapsing.
Well, Quintus bypassed nature's complex and fragile systems and would have shown his organic creations how to overcome their own limitations: biological, physical, and environmental. He's like the guy that would successfully crossbreed potato and kudzu because the resulting crop would feed millions upon millions... at the astronomical cost of arable land, soil health, decline of biodiversity, and property management due to accumulated damages.
Quintus doesn't worry about that because it's part of the process! He's collecting data for future reference and starts working on fertilizers to support the crossbreeds immense nutritional demands, animal husbandry so herbivores can chomp down on the remains, and construction materials/architectural designs resistant to plant growth damage.
Quintus, you crazy scientist of a dreamer, that's not the fucking point!
So yeah, because Quintus didn't have his siblings to kick his ass about sustainable measures (because everything from medicinal to food to construction had to come some somewhere), Quintessa got overharvested or destroyed. Because of the immense deprivation, Quintessons went colonial on their planetary neighbors. Because they succeeded with their neighbors and never thought to change their way of life because of yummy resources, they went on campaign into distant systems where they cut their teeth against mechanical species and subjugated them.
And because the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie pattern would take way too long to get to my point: the Quintessons literally built their way to conquered Cybertron, fuck that planet and its indigenous people and fauna over in the spectacular fashion they did to Quintessa, got kicked off as their empire almost collapsed, but literally had a direct hand to the civil war between Autobots and Decepticons that lead to the final stand off on Earth.
(Funny enough, the civil war was on a scale so massive that it encompassed galaxies and disrupted the current rendition of the Quintesson Pan Galactic Co-Prosperity Sphere. They literally built the greatest threats to their own empires. Who would have thought?!)
Religious tensions after the Quintessons been kicked off would have been an interesting direction to explore. Even life during the occupation as the Thirteen would have been symbols of rebellion versus the Quintessons' rabid methods to obfuscate their own origins as well as tactics to break the cultural roots and ties of new subjugated planets.
Because old names become illegal, new epitaphs or names are given to undermine the regime and eventually become the new cultural practice. Then, there's the cultural blend between the natives and the colonial powers as well as the generations purposely raised in a certain cultural mindset. Since the Quintessons took control of the Well, it's a safe bet that they also took control of the institutional pillars of the society: religion, science, and law.
Primes are still titanic figures on post-occupation Cybertron, so perhaps Quintessons had only limited success in destroying mythic tales and religious traditions. Because the newer generations took on the Quintessons' distaste towards beasts and untouched nature as well as kept Quintessons' way of social hierarchy that they knew.
Quintessons emphasized function as Cybertronians (and other mechanoids) are machines compared to them. All machines have certain functions, no? Some machines are meant for certain roles, no? Machines are only capable as much as programmed, but Quintessons are far more advanced because they overcame their limitations with their own creative endeavors!
Quintessons basically treated Cybertronians as living appliances, gadgets, and animals. To them, a Cybertronian was a more fun and dynamic Siri or Alexa than a real person. Sure, a Quint could bond and form an emotional attachment, but it's still not truly 'alive.' And they codified that into their own laws.
Basically, Quintessons would have been okay with Prima and his Guiding Hand. They would have propped up his specific actions on how civilization should be (cement more tensions between city-states and Wilder tribes and unregulated environmental policies), switch up or change key mythology (Prima and Megatronus being split-spark twins that rule together into Prima being the sole Sun and Megatronus becoming a late brother that became the Great Evil that became jealous of the Sun and destroyed Life.), and straight up destroyed or damaged historic and culturally significant items and practices that deem it otherwise (the Well of Allsparks; removing the golden horns of fully-trained doctors that pay tribute to Liege Maximo's ties to medicine; the removal of various sigils of specific Primes and associated groupings, Onyx's Mask removed from stages as it functioned as Comedy and Tragedy masks).

There's several incredibly easy criticisms, but I feel the concept of "corporate greed" becomes particularly incoherent when used to explain the prices of something having only just now gone up
you think corporations only invented greed last week and simply had not thought to raise prices anytime earlier?
#economics#greed#'greed' is for leftists basically what 'laziness' is for authoritarians#a non-explanation whose function is to moralize rather than understand#hm also that's two “deadly sins”. lessee if we can rope more of them into this#'lust' yeah is kind of a boogeyman of conservatives#'wrath' / 'hate' a boogeyman of… anyone too deep into politics#pride-as-a-boogeyman = Law of Jante#gluttony-as-a-boogeyman = naïve fatphobia and some weirder types of anti-consumerism#idk envy. honestly I think envy might actually exist

Bro the Soviety Union development and government is so dang interesting
#i know it says soviety. im not retyping it#im just doing an essay on the purge of 37 and I just so wish the history of the soviet union was taught better in us schools.#and like. not always interesting in a good way.#but im reading a crusty old book from 1972 about it and i feel like if we just taught kids better about why economic systems function#the way they do and how they have worked historically and the nuances of that and how people at the time within the nation and#its territories viewed it. we could actually have some very productive discussion about communism and capitalism and corporatism.#and i could do some more learning about the development of capitalism. but every time someone goes “communism bad” and ridicules kids#or “socialism bad” without explaining ANYTHING ABOUT THE HISTORY#makes me mad man. it makes me mad. do you actually want people to know or do you just wanna be right. u are not helping.#i know im guilty of this too in other areas but it just boils me blood. anyway rant over

The TikTok conundrum is so stupid it's almost funny. Like it's the most low-effort ruse and people are still somehow falling for it. I guess they weren't paying attention when trump tried to ban it in the first place, or they forgot. But regardless it's absurdly easy to find out that he did just from a cursory search using any engine. And it was down for what? A couple hours? Before it returned, blatantly painting trump as it's hero... If there weren't people somehow falling for it, it would be funny because it's just so unbelievably stupid. And yet...
#people are so stupid it's genuinely disturbing 💜#and i know its not that simple but like. just the fact that it was almost instantly reinstated just screams “publicity stunt” to me#and i do think that it was also like... kind of a warning to show just how easy it is for the powers that be to control and change#the way society functions by removing these what has become a social and often economic pillar of the country at large but also#for particular demographics. like a lot of disabled people depend on tiktok to make money#anyway. just another beautiful day at the end of the world!

Thing about small italian villages is that the didnt really have roads up until the 70's which of course leads to a massive amount of cousin marriage and inbreeding and while yes my particular own has its issues regarding that (3 major families (one of whom i am part of!!! Yay!!!) that all of the other families are related to, everyone there has bone/joint problems or some sort of schizofrenia) the neighboring one is worse as in they have one major family and the rest of the inhabitants are ppl who immigrated to have a quiet life in the mountain slopes and that by itself could be an extremely interesting study bcs everyone there kinda looks the same-ish and has a frankly insane amount of people with developmental disabilities for a population this small
#ok now that i have typed it out i realized it sounds mean and i want to earnestly say that i am not mocking them i just suck at tone#i do not think its something to be laughed at i just think the whole thing is uh. i wouldnt say tragic but really no one's fault#bcs again. if you live in the mountains where the main city is hard to reach bcs of poor road conditions#which leads to isolation and also extreme stigma against the village folk *of course* the village#will become more secluded and incestuous marriages will happen (aside from the obv economical factor#that a pre industrial reality would entrail)#its just. fascinating on a sociological and genetical level. esp since by when the roads were functional#and the village folk stigma had already gone away the whole 'we stay here we stay together we are better than anyone bcs they are envious#of us and we will continue inbreeding and any kids with severe disabilities born from it are actually Blessed because they are born from us#has already taken so much root it is now unlikely to be eradicated . the nature of italian villages is that every once in a while#someone reinvents blood purity and eugenetics lmao#anyways this whole incest thing is also the reason why i get frustrated about those books that have#the main characters go into small bigoted villages and either finding peace there or be horrified by its conservatives ideas#while never digging on the *why*. like yeah all this 'what happens in the village stays in the village and everyone else is an enemy'#but they never dig into why that mentality was born to begin with and how incest there#actively helps this mentality to continue on like you legit still have grandmas telling you to marry ur cousin#anw. i dont know what i was going for w this rant. it originated from knowing that my aunt turned local saint#was actually schizophrenic and was prone to paranoid attacks and mental breakdowns similar to mine#fun stuff!

Poll adventure (paventure? lol) Day 16: read the small story tidbit below the poll for more details, OR just vote based on initial impression
(✦ see past poll results + further information HERE (link) ✦)
Yesterday's poll decided that The Adventurer should offer to help the travelers with their broken wagon.....
~
After much internal deliberation (and some zoning out staring at butterflies), The Adventurer decides it would be best to offer his assistance. Technically, he IS still following his goal of not getting distracted, because theoretically it would make his journey much faster if he were able to catch a ride on a carriage. So really, this is all an ultimate big brain genius strategy for maximizing efficient travel.. Or, at least that sounds like a good enough justification to him.
Gathering up all of his social courage, he approaches one of the travelers fiddling with a broken wheel near the far end of the carriage and meekly asks if there's anything he could do to help.
The man was so focused on his task, he seems initially startled to look up and find someone near him. "OH..! Oh, uhh.. help? With the wagon?", he smiles pleasantly, gesturing towards a few wooden boards that are just out of his reach, "Sure, kid. If you could just hand me th-"
"Apologies, but we actually won't be needing your assistance, stranger." A taller man, surprisingly almost matching the stature of the Adventurer, suddenly slinks out from somewhere behind the carriage, sternly placing himself like a barrier in front of the man working on the wheel. Wheel Guy nervously averts his eyes, making himself smaller, silently resuming his work.
The Adventurer tries his best to maintain composure against the weight of the tall man's bitter gaze, but can't seem to muster much of a response "Aeughh,,, uh… b-but, h- Bu--HHHh,,?.."
"Look, disregard whatever my father told you, he's old, never has any clue what he's talking about. It'd be best for you to simply move along." ('Father'? They don't look alike at all, and seem to be nearly the same age..)
"W-well.. he.. he didn't really tell me anything, I me-hhH,,.. I mean, I literally just got here, s-so...."
"Good. Even more reason to be on your way."
Placing a gloved hand firmly on his shoulder, the tall man begins to motion the Adventurer away from the wagon, but a strange noise interrupts, echoing from inside. Perhaps some sort of animal sound? Or a person faintly yelling about something? Or… both?
"WH-wHggg… whAT was t-that???!!" The Adventurer immediately stops in place, pausing to listen as the tall man keeps trying to push him ahead.
"I didn't hear anything, stranger."
"No, t-there.. was dEFinitely, UHH, a-"
"Likely something in the forest."
"Wh--aah... d.. do you think it was an animal?"
The tall man continues a dramatic struggle to 'subtly' drag him further down the road, whilst the Adventurer mindlessly digs in his heels, too distracted to even notice he's being so strongly prompted to leave.
"Many animals do, indeed, exist within forests. This should not be suprising."
"...It's just.. ..eughh… s… so weird…"
"I assure you, it is not."
"I-it really sounded like.. like it came f-from insid-"
"Yes, from inside the forest. Now, please, if you would.."
The noise interrupts again. It's definitely someone, or something, in some sort of distress.. And definitely from inside of the cart.
"wHoAAGH, aa!!! T-tHat's NOT from the f-forest, that-"
The tall man fully just shoves him now, sending the Adventurer toppling across the dirt, clumsily rolling and landing just past the other side of the carriage. A mother and young child who seem to be part of the traveling group simply stare down at him with empty blank gazes, wholly unconcerned about helping him up.
As the Adventurer fumbles back to his feet (still confused as to why he was even pushed in the first place), the tall man looms by the carriage, diligently watching to ensure that he leaves.
"Travel safe, stranger."
Despite his initial obliviousness, the Adventurer begins to piece the situation together as he stares back at the man, now fully convinced something suspicious might be going on...
…What should he do next??

the adventurer's current main quest: follow his map to reach the abandoned castle ruins and see the rare animal specialist about the mysterious egg he has
#paventure posting#poll#polls#choose your own adventure#ERM.. ... hee hee... yes.. alas.. it has been like two months since the last one lol#IT'S SUMMER!!!! how can anyone function in the summer..? It's literally 83F in my room indoors right now at this moment at NIGHT#I'm about to go to sleep.. who can sleep in an 80+ degree room comfortably?? ghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh#Really no hope of productivity at all from like June - September basically... EVIL.. and also the spring this year had some heat waves so#AUGhh... my nemesis the Summer.. Or moreso capitalism is my nemesis for worsening climate change and also keeping people in such#economic inequality that cheap apartments with terrible ventilation get made and people cant afford air conditioners and etc. etc.#but ALSO... the summer... grrrr.. 'Heat' you will never be famous.. you will always be lame nasty and so forth..#ANYWAY.. also sorry this is another blurb that's longer. The text is always longer when there's actually spoken interactions lol#I know I'm not very good at this style of writing (especially when rushing with these) so I always feel kind of awkward having really long#sections people will have to slog through or etc ghbjhjh but.. I don't really know how it make it shorter. the interaction#is just the interaction. certain things must be said and conveyed. peace and love on planet orth.#Ough it's been so long I almost forgot to draw his injuries lol.. in-world it's only been what like.. a day? since he got into a fight with#that mysterious cloaked person who was tracking him to steal the egg. I also always just forget how to draw him in between breaks#hopefully his hair and stuff doesn't look too different. They're meant to be really quick sketches anyway but still.. you at least want him#to be recognizable lol#ANYWAY.. another update from the Son.. what is he up to on his little traveles...

Conservative leadership hopeful Kemi Badenoch has faced criticism after a report she endorsed suggested people with autism get “economic advantages and protections” and “better treatment or equipment at school”.
Genuinely evil woman
#saw this on the i obvs#it’s on the guardian as well#not bbc. curious#ableism#I mean straight up mask off ableism#kemi badenoch#uk politics#economic advantages jfc#like just look at the statistics for unemployed autistic people and you can see how absurd it is#the job market is shit as is but it’s SO FUCKING HARD when part of the barrier to entry is this weird social dance that involves kind of#lying but only the right amount and saying the right things that may or may not be the whole truth#not to mention the increased stress of Going to a New Place to do a New Thing#I’m trying to move out of my parents’ so everything I’m applying for is all across the country#which means I’ll be travelling by public transport (SUPER HARD COS SENSORY ISSUES) to get to any interviews in the first place#and while I hesitate to say I’m “high functioning” cos I’m really not I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 20 and I functioned fine in school#except socially but hey who cares about THAT right it was probably my own fault for being a bit weird

first draft of the first chapter done! i think i found a decent point to end it, though that may change.
now... now i have to polish this sucker and start editing it
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#miravi.txt#monster prom#the next chapter starts going into the specifics on miranda's living situation#namely the question of ''how the fuck do you commute from the bottom of the sea to school and back every day''#the short answer being. you dont!#but also will serve as the introduction to merfolk socialization and some economics#though all of this will have to be tomorrow because im just not feeling it today#i also really should make a reference picture for my aaravi design#she is also a bit different from canon aaravi#though not as much as miri since you could still functionally mistake her as human#but thats extra work and i am Tired

Was having a debate yesterday with my boss about the validity of nfts and their impact on what we consider art and about 10 minutes in i mentioned the bored ape and he didnt know what it was and i had to get him to google it and it was at that point i realized i was arguing on the business of war with a man who has never been in the trenches
#he just straight up did not know how nfts function in the online sphere both socially and economically#yet felt confident enough in his convictions to argue about it for 10 or 15 minutes#i think he though my position was that being an nft makes something not art#like babe i do not think you understand how nft bros operate

Hey sorry for arguing under your post btw 😭 these Hindutva fanatics get me so angry
dw it's good! i've been mostly ignoring the notifs from that post ever since someone decided it was a good idea to start saying rly vulgar threats about me and my family (they've been reported by me and my friends who saw it), but yeah the little i've still seen and what i saw before is genuinely awful. like i'm sorry you people have 0 reading comprehension, but i think murder is bad regardless of who does it! it's not that hard
#hey this level of escalation is uncalled for and all the ppl calling for an all out war need to understand there will be-#casualities on our side as well and that really does Not need to happen#it's bad when pakistan does it it's bad when india does it!#criticising my own country doesnt mean im condoning what the other idiot country is doing#they've attacked several of our civilians as well and it's genuinely heinous as to what they've done#that post wasnt meant to be a 'killing bad we shld all hold hands'#it was a 'hey i dont think calling for an escalation esp to the level of war is good or needed because there will also be casualities on ou#side and on theirs as well and civilians on neither side deserve this. a war is not going to Help'#war mongering is going to get you nothing literally nothing#i'm aware of the limitations of diplomacy! i'm aware that these two countries are run by clowns!#but genuinely i dont think we need this steep of an escalation that will fuck our country socially economically and cause strife and death#to an unprecedented and unnecessary degree#there are several ways to solve this and war is Not one of them#sorry for rambling ive had thoughts now tht my brain's functioning a bit more normally#anyway ure so real i hope u have a good day#hissterical-nyaan#asks#india#pakistan#and ofc as always who suffers most? the kashmiris

#august.chr#i'm too engrossed in furryworld i think it's lame if every furry society functions just like human society#it is imperative you know about my nomadic seafarer economically oppressive hunter nations....

Here’s some links about amusement park trains (mostly US and mostly steam, it’s actually really hard to find much on non-steam ones)
Outdated but extensive list of Crown Metal Products trains
Relatively current list of only their steam engines
General amusement park trains site, dated but very thorough with what it has, lots of photos
The wikipedia list of amusement park railroads is very incomplete but a decent starting point for non-Disney parks with historic trains
(funny fact: I thought Hersheypark’s train was a fake with some attention to detail sound/motion wise…. it is not, just very small and clean burning)
#the 60s-80s was actually a very GOOD time to be a new build small choo choo in the US. Or even a surviving old one#just going down the lists you can see what impressive “job security” they technically had. Also HIGH survival rate vs general 60s-70s ride#i don’t think cedar point posts the numbers regularly anymore but the train used to have top ridership in the park#with how other amusement rides are just as if not more specialized (and lower capacity) steam trains are pretty economical for them#lol when i am less busy i will draw/write out my Ol Smoky the historically accurate new build steam engine who is WILDLY hateable#basically a reagan standin (even the cowboy actor part) who plays the victim despite having the cushiest job and PR#deflects factual arguments with stupid emotional one liners and suggests horrible backwards answers to problems#reference#honestly hilarious that being a hardcore amusement park enthusiast was what made me go from finding rusty cliche to painfully WRONG#“painting steam as a victim how cliche” “oh god this was when they were having bidding wars and importing barely salvageable stuff”#“wow actual US trains had a TERRIBLE time in those years”#UK has similar issues but less one-sided mask off awful mainline rail politics so it’s more just cringey vs painful#still firmly in the era of people saving almost everything at Barry (that wasn’t even mechanically functional)
